OVERVIEW
Dr. Apples: The Silent Incident is an animated short film built on visual storytelling, physical escalation, and controlled chaos. When sound and color begin disappearing inside Dr. Apples’ Lazy Lounge, a calm, structured office in outer space mutates into a silent-film disaster of magical disruption, cartoon logic, and mounting visual panic.
Influenced by Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, and sharpened by the timing of Looney Tunes, the film uses movement, reaction, staging, and spectacle to carry the story. Silence becomes pressure. Color becomes event. Every beat pushes the room further from order and deeper into absurd collapse.
TONE & STYLE
A controlled blend of silent-era physical storytelling, visual comedy, restrained tension, anime-inspired exaggeration, and magical spectacle. The Silent Incident is performance-driven animation built on timing, impact, and visual payoff—not dialogue-heavy exposition.
PLOT
Dr. Apples wakes to find his office trapped in silence and drained black-and-white. His magic fails. Lacie panics. Mr. Steiner deploys a machine to trace the disruption back to its source. But when color and sound begin returning, they reveal the real problem: a flying creature draining color from everything it touches. What begins as a contained incident escalates into a tightly staged chain reaction of magical force, physical chaos, and visual absurdity.
MUSIC
The score is built around one original musical theme created by Lacye A. Brown, developed through multiple renditions across the film. Rather than relying on unrelated tracks, The Silent Incident uses variations of the same core composition to shift tone, pace, and energy as the world mutates. This gives the film a unified musical identity while allowing the sound to evolve with the chaos onscreen.
